Getting to Faraway Bay is the beginning of your adventure, with access strictly limited to air and sea. Faraway Bay has no road access and is remote and exclusive with a private airstrip for aircraft charters – largely for Kununurra accommodation in the breathtaking outback.

Scenic Flight to Faraway Bay
The breathtaking flight puts Faraway Bay’s unique and remote location for Kununurra accommodation into awesome perspective.
Explore over 280kms of raw Kimberley wilderness starting from Kununurra, including the mighty Ord River and Berkeley River, mangroves and expansive rugged coastline. From 500 feet spot dugongs, sea turtles, sharks and massive saltwater crocodiles.
Included in this is also a scenic flight over the spectacularly iconic King George Falls.
Equally spectacular are the scenic flights direct from Darwin. After departing the Northern Territory coast, you will fly over the Timor Sea, Joseph Bonaparte Gulf then cross the Kimberley Coast on the way to touching down at Faraway Bay.
Once landed, you’ll be greeted with a smile from your Faraway Bay host and a characteristic ‘open air’ safari style four-wheel-drive to take you 4kms to your accommodation – approximately a 20 minute drive.

Faraway Bay is a popular destination for self-flyers. Our airstrip includes tie-down and a parking bay for light aircraft. Return transfers to the lodge are via 4WD. A helipad is also available for those who arrive by helicopter. Permission is required from Faraway Bay for self-flyers to land, utilising Faraway Bay Airstrip. Only self-flyers staying at Faraway Bay can use the airstrip.
