Kimberley wet season
With the Kimberley region’s wet season in full swing, Faraway Bay has been on the receiving end of a spectacular amount of rainfall. In fact, we’ve had almost as much rain as we had for the entire wet season last year!

This will produce incredible waterfalls for guests to enjoy when our new season opens (from March 15) and in turn, provides ideal run-off for superb Barramundi fishing.

Take advantage of our exclusive ‘End of Wet Season’ special package and receive a 20% discount on our standard rates, plus complimentary overnight accommodation in either Kununurra or Darwin before or after your flight out to Faraway Bay.

Offer is for a strictly limited time – you must book before 28 February 2014. Valid for stays between 15 March and 30 April 2014. Conditions apply. Click here for full details of this exciting one-off offer!

Don’t miss your chance to experience the magic of Mother Nature and the magic of Faraway Bay – it’s a holiday you will never forget!

Nicole Kidman talks Kununurra with Ellen DeGeneres

In case you hadn’t heard, Ellen DeGeneres is bringing her US talk show to Australia in March. The announcement came following an interview with Nicole Kidman, who, not surprisingly, recommended Kununurra as her favourite place to visit.

Nicole visited with co-star Hugh Jackman during filming of Baz Luhrmann’s movie ‘Australia’, for which Faraway Bay was one of only two locations used as a base for the crew. During production, scenes were shot of our nearby natural wonder, the King George Falls.

The movie put the Kimberley region on the world map, and even our water became famous! It became known as a ‘pregnancy potion’ after Nicole Kidman unexpectedly fell pregnant with her baby daughter Sunday Rose during production. But Kidman, who never thought she could fall pregnant, wasn’t the only one to experience the Kimberley’s fertile waters – six other women who worked on the movie also conceived during the film’s production. Amazing!

New ‘Quoll Bar’ – the perfect place for lounging

Guests of Faraway Bay are loving our new indulgent bar and lounge – the ‘Quoll Bar’

Choose from a selection of quality beers on tap and a refreshed wine list showcasing fine West Australian red, white and sparkling wines.  With all beverages and gourmet meals fully-inclusive at Faraway Bay, the only thing to do is choose!

Faraway Bay owner and operator, Kevin Reilly says the Quoll Bar is proving popular with guests, as another perfect place for lounging and soaking up the atmosphere of the bay.

“As well as great views, it provides another area for our guests to relax in true Aussie outback style,” Kevin said.

The bar was introduced as an eco-friendly initiative to reduce waste at the camp, and is named after a friendly family of Northern Quolls who visit Eagle Lodge each night.

“The visits are a real treat for our guests, so we had no choice but to call it the ‘Quoll Bar’!”
